Beyond the label

The Médoc region is “the most famous red wine district in Bordeaux, and possibly the world,” writes Master of Wine Jancis Robinson. It’s home to storied appellations like Pauillac and Margaux, which house big-name châteaux and very pricey wines. But head just outside of these areas, and you’ll find small, family-owned estates producing delicious Bordeaux at far friendlier prices.

Château Troussas has been in Marie-Laure Ferris’ family for generations, but she’s the first to make the transition from pure viticulture to winemaking. And the results, as you’ll taste with this fabulous new release, have been fantastic. Thanks to the near-perfect 2015 vintage, Marie-Laure had her pick of beautifully ripened grapes, all grown in her estate’s premium Médoc vineyards. A classic blend of Merlot, Cabernets Sauvignon and Franc, and Petit Verdot, it earned a gold medal at the prestigious Concours Général de Bordeaux.

Look forward to ripe, dark-fruit aromas and flavors, underpinned by hints of toasty oak and cocoa. With structured tannins and a silky-smooth finish, this is a delicious partner for duck confit, creamy mushroom risotto, and more.
