Flavor Profile
From the pioneering RedHeads Studio, this exclusive, handcrafted red arrives with a great story.
Back in 2004, a small band of Australian winemakers—with day jobs at some of the country’s biggest, most prestigious wineries—set up a shed where they could moonlight after hours. Free from the demands of quantity-focused shareholders, they could handcraft the wines they wanted to make, in tiny batches. And the acclaim soon followed...
“Must be tasted to be believed,” said top critic Robert Parker of Viottolo Sentiero, one of the very first RedHeads wines. “A taste of the product indicates that this operation is as serious as a heart attack,” raved Master of Wine Jancis Robinson.
These days, RedHeads wines sell for upwards of $75 a bottle and have earned over 200 gold medals and eight major trophies. They’ve also won a prestigious commendation at the 2020 Drinks Business Green Awards for their commitment to renewable energy and sustainability.
For this unique red blend, head winemaker Alex Trescowthick sources remarkable Durif grapes, grown at prized One Tree Hill by local grower Joe Roccat, and adds premium Shiraz from RedHeads' own vineyards. The final touch is a dash of Touriga Nacional, aged in a traditional solera system (à la Spain’s Jerez region and Sherry).
The final wine overflows with ripe black-fruit flavors plus beautiful spice and vanilla oak notes. A great match for everything from hearty casseroles to meat pies.
And this is the only place you can buy Night of the Living Red in the U.S. Better hurry, though—like all RedHeads’ wines, this one’s sure to sell fast.
