Flavor Profile
Törley estate is the hugely talented winemaking team behind our bestselling Campanula Pinot Grigio, a dazzling white that regularly outclasses Italian counterparts twice its price and, as its many champions know, hails from Hungary. Now, their thrilling Sauvignon Blanc-led blend is making its U.S. debut.
A century ago, Hungary was one of the world's top wine countries. And it's no surprise—their wine regions lie in the same latitude range as some premier French regions, like Champagne and the Northern Rhône. Founded in Dunántúl (a limestone-rich region known for fresh whites) in 1882, Törley has led the field, supplying wine to the imperial and royal court.
Like much of Hungary, they were hit hard over the decades by two wars and a soviet occupation. At one point they had just four people keeping the winery alive. But it survived and rose from the ashes, ready to showcase the quality of Hungarian wine to the world.
Named after Zoltan Baló, a beloved member of the team at Törley, the crisp cuvée features citrusy Sauvignon Blanc, a dash of peachy ripe Viognier and local Zenit, which gives it its unique, incredibly refreshing zip. It’s mouthwatering on its own and shines with food, too. Pair it with soft cheeses such as goat cheese and Camembert, or zesty chicken and fish dishes, like Hungary’s chicken paprikash or Harcsapaprikas (fish paprikash).
