Led by third-generation Damiano Federici, Cantine Federici is one of the first (and best) producers in Italy’s Roma region. Named after Damiano’s grandfather, this luscious white showcases star local grape, Malvasia Puntinata, grown in the hills outside of Rome—the same ones that supplied stone for the Colosseum.
Malvasia Puntinata is a difficult grape variety to grow, but given proper care in the vineyard, it produces vibrant, complex whites—as you’ll taste with the Federici family’s lovely example. Boasting two 98-point scores from leading critics Luca Maroni and Alfonso Cevola, as well as a gold medal from Mundus Vini judges, it overflows with ripe peach, citrus fruit and delicate honey characters.
Most of Cantine Federici’s wines are sold directly to local restaurants (where they’re served with creamy white-sauced pastas, hearty seafood and more)—so it’s rare to see them in the U.S. Act quickly for your share of this Roman sensation.
