Flavor Profile
Champagne is a paradox—the height of sophistication, but born of grueling, time-consuming work in both the vineyard and winery. It’s the wine you reach for on special occasions (especially when you’ve got some impressing to do), but it’s also perfectly at ease on a low-key night, over cartons of Chinese take out.
You could spend a fortune seeking out the flashy Grandes Marques of Champagne, but we’ve got something even better…
This stunning Réserve comes from mega-talented, fifth-generation winemaker, Julien Fourrier (below). A true labor of love, it bears the maiden name of his dear mom, Brigitte. The family’s small, 170-year-old estate lies in the trendy Côte des Bar, which Wine Folly calls “the hottest Champagne region right now.”
Crafted from estate-grown Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, Julien’s Réserve was aged four years on its lees (over twice as long as required by Champagne’s strict laws). This process allowed the wine to develop a remarkable toasty-creamy complexity. You’ll also pick up vivacious notes of peach, apple, and candied citrus.
Treat yourself to this beautifully crafted Champagne now, before we run out. Very limited cases imported.
