Beyond the label

The Dumas family has produced top-class wine in Bordeaux for seven generations. Their estate has a rich heritage in viticulture (the art of cultivating wine grapes), and Château Haut Bardin Bordeaux is a prime example of the quality for which this petite château is known. It arrives with multiple gold medals from top competitions.

Located in the heart of the village of Saint Martial, Château Haut Bardin has been under the purview of winemaker Xavier Dumas since 1987. He brings a contemporary touch to the family legacy, seamlessly marrying time-honored practices with innovative approaches in the cellar.

This release is a classic blend of Merlot (80%) and Cabernet (20%), harvested during the celebrated 2022 vintage. Critics and experts around the world have raved about the quality, including critic James Suckling, who asserted, “I have never come across anything like the 2022 vintage…it sets a new benchmark for Bordeaux.”

Elegant and refined, Xavier’s beautiful Bordeaux is brimming with ripe cassis, plum and red-fruit flavors, underpinned by a bright streak of acidity, well-integrated tannins and a lengthy finish. Its excellent structure makes it an ideal 'food wine.' Enjoy it alongside roasted meats, hearty vegetarian fare or winter stews.

A brief note from the estate: “The 2022 vintage in Bordeaux has yielded balanced and harmonious wines—powerful yet approachable, while retaining the freshness and characteristic brilliance of Bordeaux.”

This is exactly the kind of great-quality, small-estate Bordeaux we love to find for you. Secure your share today.
