Flavor Profile
Deep in southern Italy, Puglia (aka the heel) is a haven for authentic wines that over-deliver for their price tag. This refreshing Falanghina comes to you from the highly respected, well-awarded Torrevento estate, winner of the Best Producer, Italy title at Frankfurt International Wine Trophy in 2024.
As their head winemaker, Leonardo Palumbo has crafted his fair share of great wines—and many (including this one) offer exceptional value. For this white, he chose to highlight the Falanghina grape. It has generous citrus aromas, and on the palate, expect concentrated flavors of citrus, green apple, pear and white peach—followed by a rounded texture on the finish.
You don't often come across Falanghina from Puglia (very little is grown here), but Leonardo tells us it most likely traveled through the region—thanks to the Greeks—before moving on to Campania, where it is more famously made today. With this wine, Falanghina is returning to its roots.
"Falanghina has rediscovered its identity and value in recent times, becoming a symbol of the wine renaissance of southern Italy," shares Leonardo. "It's an emblematic grape of the best white wines of Campania and Puglia. It is a wine that speaks the language of the sun, the sea and the hills, a wine that tells stories of ancient traditions and of a winemaking present that looks confidently to the future."
Palumbo Falanghina offers a delicious taste of history—one refreshing sip at a time. Try it today.
