RedHeads Blue Belle Riesling 2024
Flavor Profile
If there is one distinct white wine gift that Australia has given to the world, it’s dry Aussie Riesling. This delightful example comes from RedHeads, an innovative, sustainable winery in the famed Barossa Valley. Led by winemaker Darren Harvey, the team handcrafts small-batch wines that have earned them awards and a top reputation. Blue Belle Riesling showcases their talent—it's a vibrant and aromatic dry white wine with zesty citrus flavors, refreshing acidity and a delicate minerality.
The name Blue Belle reflects Australia’s playful tradition of opposites—naming a redhead “Bluey” or, in this case, a RedHeads wine after a charming blue flower. The grapes hail from two standout vineyards in regions that are well-known for producing exceptional Riesling.
In the glass, Blue Belle is a pale straw yellow with green highlights. Expect bright aromas of lime zest and green apple. The palate bursts with flavors of zesty lemon, lime and juicy green apple, rounded by white peach and light streak of minerality through the finish. Its vibrant acidity and clean, crisp, refreshing finish make it irresistible. Pair Blue Belle with fresh seafood, zesty salads or light Asian dishes like Vietnamese spring rolls.
About the vineyards: Possum Creek in the Barossa Valley, tended by Darren Heidenreich, produces impeccable fruit. Its slight elevation lends good acid retention and freshness to the grapes, while proximity to the Barossa Valley floor adds stone fruit notes. The second is Fechner Vineyard in the Eden Valley—a high-altitude, cool-climate site famous for Riesling, thanks to a high diurnal range that helps retain acidity for a balanced wine. (Diurnal range is the difference between daytime and nighttime temperatures.)
This wine is perfect for fans of elegant whites, especially dry Rieslings. Add Blue Belle to your cart and discover a wine that’s as delightful as its name.
