Flavor Profile
El Patrimonio is a very special Cabernet. As luxurious as it is rare—and made at the ends of the earth. Why go that far? Because it’s the lesser-known regions, places truly off the beaten path, where you’ll find handcrafted wines at unbelievable prices.
El Patrimonio comes from Argentina’s rugged Patagonia region. Located in the county’s deep south, Patagonia has such an extreme desert climate that few winemakers dare to brave its elements (hence why less than 2% of Argentina’s wine comes from here). But it’s a story of quality over quantity—Patagonia is becoming to Argentina what the Napa Valley is to California.
The Schroeder family has farmed the plains of Patagonia since 1927. But Herman Schroeder dreamed of more than farming—he realized the potential for winemaking here and founded Familia Schroeder in 2003. Today, his son Roberto and grandson Herman run the show. Working alongside head winemaker Leonardo Puppato, they “make wines that master sommeliers should love” (The Wine Advocate).
Inspired by the family’s pioneering legacy, El Patrimonio (“the heritage”) is a 50/50 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Aged for 12 months in new French and American oak barrels, if offers rich layers of ripe dark fruit, attractive spice and subtle mocha notes. Structured, yet still wonderfully smooth, it’s ready to enjoy now or age beautifully for years to come.
El Patrimonio is the finest wine the Schroeder family has ever crafted. And, we’d argue, it’s the first true fine wine from Patagonia. Hurry to be among a select few to try it.
